It doesn’t matter how old I get- talking about fashion with my friends is always going to be something I do. When I was in high school, it was all about getting ready together- i.e. schlepping all of my “going out tops” over to a friend’s house and trading clothes so we each could have something new to wear that day. For the record, all of this effort was so we could look cute while sitting in someone else’s basement. Hilarious.
In college, it was checking in to see who was wearing what out that night- i.e. are we wearing jeans? Are we wearing dresses? Boots or heels?- God forbid you didn’t follow the vibe and you looked like you tried to hard.
As a professional, I’ll check in to see what my colleagues are wearing to work events- i.e. business casual? Cocktail attire? No one wants to be the one in a sweater at a chic soiree’.
And wear am I now? Chatting with my pals about new buys and seasonal trends- i.e. oh my god, I got this dress for $40. And you should buy it too.
As of late, the general consensus among my incredible and stylish friend set is that summer fashion is the worst. And while I agree that outfit options are a bit slim pickin’- because you pretty much just want to wear what you’re not going to be too hot in- I tend to wholeheartedly disagree. My favorite thing about summer dressing? The pretty little details. There’s something about the combination of sunshine and warmer temps that gives me the go ahead to break out all my best beading and fringe- without feeling like I just stepped out of a Forever21 window.
Currently, I am MAJORLY crushing on this Bohemia Shirt Dress from LOFT. Its intricate embroidery, tassels, button front, and tie waist are the stuff my detailed dreams are made of.
